Abstract

This paper examines the role of text-based learning in developing speaking and linguistic competence among primary school pupils. Particular attention is paid to the integration of reading comprehension, vocabulary development, grammatical awareness, oral communication, and written expression. The study discusses how carefully selected texts and structured learning activities can support pupils in understanding language in context and using it for meaningful communication. It also considers the relevance of international literacy research to primary English language teaching. Practical recommendations are proposed for designing age-appropriate tasks, encouraging active participation, and assessing pupils’ communicative progress.
