THE ROLE OF REFLECTIVE LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES IN DEVELOPING THE PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES OF PRE SERVICE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS

Abstract

This article examines the role of reflective learning technologies in developing the professional competencies of pre-service English language teachers. It explores the theoretical foundations of reflective practice and its contribution to enhancing pedagogical knowledge, communicative competence, critical thinking, self-assessment, and lifelong learning. The study discusses the integration of reflective journals, teaching portfolios, peer observation, microteaching, digital reflection tools, and mentoring practices in teacher education programs. Furthermore, it highlights how reflective learning technologies foster professional identity, instructional decision-making, and continuous professional development. The findings indicate that reflective learning significantly strengthens the pedagogical, linguistic, methodological, and professional competencies of future English language teachers, preparing them for effective teaching in contemporary educational environments.
