USING AUTHENTIC MATERIALS TO IMPROVE LISTENING SKILLS

Authentic materials texts, recordings, and media created for real communicative purposes rather than for pedagogical use are widely recognized as effective resources in language teaching. This article investigates the role of authentic listening materials in developing learners’ listening comprehension skills. It focuses on both the benefits and challenges of using such materials in educational contexts. The study is based on a qualitative literature review of existing research in second language acquisition and listening pedagogy. The findings suggest that appropriately selected authentic materials can enhance learners’ listening competence and bridge the gap between classroom instruction and real-life language use.
