METHODOLOGY FOR DEVELOPING STUDENTS’ LISTENING COMPREHENSION SKILLS IN ENGLISH

This article explores effective methodological approaches for developing students’ listening comprehension skills in English as a foreign language. In the modern educational process, listening is recognized as a key receptive skill that plays a vital role in language acquisition and communication. The article reviews traditional and modern techniques used to enhance listening abilities, such as task-based learning, authentic audio materials, interactive classroom activities, and the integration of digital technologies. Special attention is given to the role of pre-listening, while-listening, and post-listening stages in ensuring effective comprehension. Moreover, the study highlights common listening challenges faced by learners and provides practical solutions for overcoming them. Emphasis is also placed on the importance of learner motivation, exposure to natural speech, and the role of the teacher as a facilitator in creating a supportive listening environment. The proposed methodology is intended to make listening activities more engaging, purposeful, and aligned with real-life communication needs.
