The Lithuanian language stands as the oldest living Indo-European language which preserves European cultural identity and linguistic heritage. The language has maintained several ancient linguistic elements which modern Indo-European languages have lost, thus serving as a significant research resource for historical and comparative linguistic studies. The article investigates how the Lithuanian language evolved through time while also studying its linguistic features and modern-day importance to Lithuanian culture. The study examines academic literature and historical documents together with international reports from UNESCO and OECD and European Commission sources through qualitative secondary research. The research demonstrates that the Lithuanian language has functioned as a core component of national identity throughout centuries of foreign rule which included both the Russian Empire and Soviet Union periods. The Lithuanian language functions as a vital component of educational systems and government operations and media outlets and cultural activities throughout the country. The study shows that the Lithuanian language functions as both a means of communication and a powerful emblem which represents national heritage and cultural resilience for the nation
