Maqolada metaforaning kontseptlarning sohalar orasidagi muvofiqlashtirilishi sifatida ko‘rib chiqilishi, uning nafaqat tilning uslubiy vositasi, balki murakkab kognitiv jarayonlar natijasi ekanligi ta’kidlanadi. Diskursda metaforani aniqlash mezonlari, jumladan “bilvositalik + o‘xshashlik” va “nomuvofiqlik + semantik ko‘chirish” tushunchalari tahlil qilinadi, shuningdek, leksik va grammatik metafora shakllari ko‘rib chiqiladi. Metafora talqinida kognitiv va semiotik omillarning o‘zaro ta’siriga, shuningdek, matnni tushunish va diskursning kommunikativ vazifalariga alohida e’tibor qaratiladi. Taklif qilingan yondashuv metaforaning faoliyatini tizimli tahlil qilishga imkon beradi hamda lisoniy hodisalarni o‘rganishda kognitiv va lisoniy tahlilni birlashtirishni ta’minlaydi.
