The article presents an expanded scientific rationale for the role of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and their tissue inhibitors (TIMPs) in the development of inflammatory kidney diseases. Particular attention is paid to molecular mechanisms, pathophysiological chanGES, and modern concepts of renal tissue remodeling, in accordance with the requirements of European scientific journals.
