This study explores the theoretical and practical aspects of translation through the lens of the cognitive-semiotic approach, focusing on Uzbek translations of 19th–20th century English literary works. The cognitive-semiotic model emphasizes that translation extends beyond mere linguistic substitution and involves the transfer of signs, cultural realia, and contextual meanings. The research analyzes translation strategies such as semantic equivalence, contextual adaptation, concretization, and cultural transposition to elucidate how translators decode and convey the core senses of the source text. Special attention is given to cognitive dominants, the interaction of language and culture, and the mechanisms of discourse transmission in literary translation. The findings shed light on the translator’s decision-making process, the preservation of semantic and pragmatic aspects, and the handling of cultural and linguistic divergences in target texts. This study contributes to translation theory, cognitive linguistics, and semiotics, providing insights into the interdisciplinary nature of literary translation
