Abstract

The article examines legal enlightenment as a philosophical foundation of crime prevention in the process of building an enlightened society in New Uzbekistan. Drawing on the ideas of Abu Nasr al-Farabi, C.Beccaria, I.Kant and modern criminological theories, the study argues that sustainable law and order rests not only on the inevitability of punishment, but above all on the legal consciousness, moral responsibility and civic activity of citizens. The ontological, epistemological, axiological and ethical aspects of legal enlightenment are analysed, and the practical mechanisms of its implementation in the activities of internal affairs bodies, in particular the crime prevention service, are considered. The author substantiates that the principle “Enlightenment against ignorance” is the methodological core of modern crime prevention policy in Uzbekistan.
