MACHINE TRANSLATION VS. HUMAN TRANSLATION A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF ACCURACY, FLUENCY AND CULTURAL APPROPRIATENESS

This study analyses selected English texts and compares their translations produced by a machine translation system with translations produced by a human translator. Particular attention is paid to semantic accuracy, grammatical and stylistic naturalness, preservation of contextual meaning, and the appropriate rendering of culture-specific elements and idiomatic expressions. The findings suggest that machine translation can effectively convey general informational content and produce relatively fluent translations; however, human translation demonstrates greater flexibility in dealing with ambiguity, cultural references, idiomatic expressions, and context-dependent meanings.
