Abstract

This study examines how intonation and vocal qualities influence audience engagement and communication effectiveness in broadcasting. It highlights how these elements shape listener and viewer engagement, message clarity, and long-term retention and recall of information. By integrating insights from prosody studies, media psychology, and speech perception theories, the analysis covers core vocal features, their influence on cognitive and emotional responses, and actionable techniques for media practitioners. Emphasis is placed on applications in radio and television journalism. The discussion underscores training in vocal dynamics, rhythmic variation, and deliberate delivery as key factors for boosting communication effectiveness amid evolving media demands.
