Abstract

Traditional medicinal plants have served as a primary means for treating diseases, strengthening health, and addressing various health issues throughout human history for thousands of years. Today, their significance in modern pharmacology is steadily increasing, as these plants are natural sources with fewer side effects and contain numerous bioactive compounds. Studying the chemical composition and pharmacological properties of traditional medicinal plants, evaluating their therapeutic efficacy, and conducting clinical trials are of great importance in the development of contemporary pharmaceuticals.   Moreover, amid the growing resistance to antibiotics and other synthetic drugs, the development of new and effective medicines based on traditional plants has become a pressing issue. This article provides a detailed overview of the role of traditional medicinal plants in modern pharmacology, their application in treating various diseases, as well as contemporary methods for researching them and future prospects. This topic not only contributes to the advancement of pharmaceutical science but also creates opportunities to improve healthcare systems based on natural medicines.
