THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PHONOLOGY AND PHONETICS IN TEACHING AND LEARNING

In language teaching, phonological awareness aids learners in acquiring accurate pronunciation and speech patterns. Teachers who are proficient in phonetics can provide targeted feedback, helping students to distinguish between subtle sounds that may not exist in their native language. This knowledge also supports learners in their listening skills, spelling, and reading, reinforcing their overall linguistic competence.
