Public opinion is an important source of information and a significant element of democratic parliamentary oversight. In Uzbekistan, the Oliy Majlis performs oversight functions aimed at monitoring the implementation of laws, evaluating government activities, and addressing important social and economic issues. Public opinion can strengthen this process by providing parliamentarians with information about citizens' experiences, expectations, and concerns. This article examines the role and importance of public opinion in parliamentary oversight in Uzbekistan. It analyzes the ways in which citizens, civil society organizations, experts, journalists, and other social actors can contribute to parliamentary monitoring and evaluation. Particular attention is given to public appeals, surveys, public discussions, media reports, civil society monitoring, parliamentary hearings, and digital communication platforms. The article argues that public opinion can help parliament identify problems that may not be visible through official administrative information alone. It can also contribute to greater transparency, accountability, and public trust in parliamentary institutions.
