INTEGRATING PHONICS AND PRONUNCIATION IN THE EFL CLASSROOM

Integrating phonics and pronunciation instruction has become an effective approach in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. While phonics helps learners understand the relationship between letters and sounds, pronunciation enables them to produce these sounds accurately in spoken communication. Teaching these two components together supports the development of reading, listening, speaking, and spelling skills. This article examines the importance of integrating phonics and pronunciation in EFL instruction, discusses the benefits and challenges of this approach, and presents practical classroom strategies that enhance learners' communicative competence. The article concludes that a balanced integration of phonics and pronunciation contributes significantly to learners' language proficiency and confidence.
