COMPARATIVE STUDY OF LEXICAL AND GRAMMATICAL PECULIARITIES OF STATIVE VERBS IN THE ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES

This article examines the lexical and grammatical characteristics of stative verbs in English and Uzbek through a comparative linguistic approach. Stative verbs express states, emotions, possession, perception, cognition, and existence rather than actions. Although both English and Uzbek employ stative verbs to denote non-dynamic situations, they differ significantly in their grammatical behavior, morphological structure, and syntactic functions. The study highlights similarities and differences between the two languages and discusses their implications for language learning, translation, and comparative linguistics.
